iPhone loses market share in fourth quarter 2009


In the last quarter of 2009, the share of the iPhone world wide slightly decreased . According to research from ABI Research.
The market share fell from 18.1% in the third quarter of 2009 to 16.6% in the subsequent quarter. Sales of iPhones have also increased in this period (18%), but the entire market for smartphones grew faster (+26%), so Apple had to surrender market share. In total in the fourth quarter were 8.7 million iPhones were sold.
The slight decrease in market share can be attributed to competition from Android and Nokia. These brands have recently introduced new models, while a new version of the iPhone is expected until the summer
